How to organize under a kitchen sink with pipes in the way

Measure the space your plumbing leaves you, then choose the organizer that fits. Start with a two-tier pull-out if you have a clear lane beside the drain with room for both tiers and want to reach cleaning bottles at the back.

Five measurements to take before you buy

Clear openingHeightDepth ↗Cabinet opening · schematic, not to scale
  1. Clear door opening. Open the doors normally. Measure between the tightest points, including hinges and any center divider.
  2. Floor width and depth on each side. Measure the whole footprint from front to back. Allow for pipes, disposal, hoses and any drip tray.
  3. Clear height at the front and back. Measure up to the lowest obstruction wherever the organizer or supplies will sit.
  4. Drawer travel. Check the path past the hinge and cabinet lip, including room to pull forward far enough to reach the back.
  5. Tallest bottle. Include the trigger or pump and compare with the clearance beneath the upper tier.

Keep shutoff valves reachable. If the fit is close, slide a cardboard cutout of the organizer’s base through the opening. Hold another piece at shelf height to check for pipe and rail collisions.

DELAMU Two-Tier Pull-Out · White Two-Pack

10.43 in. W × 14.37 in. D × 13.78–17.72 in. H per unit

Use this rack where both tiers clear the plumbing and the baskets can slide past the hinge and cabinet lip. Amazon lists a minimum cabinet space of 12 in. W × 17 in. D × 15 in. H for one rack, or 25 in. W × 17 in. D × 15 in. H for two. Check the actual height of your chosen setting separately. The listing advertises 13 in. of vertical bottle clearance, but clearance at each setting is unspecified. Measure bottles with their triggers or pumps attached.

Simple Houseware Two-Tier Expandable Shelf · Silver

15.75–25 in. W × 11.75 in. D × 15.25 in. H

Remove shelf panels to leave an opening for a pipe. Check where the rails cross the cabinet and where the feet land. A missing panel won’t solve a collision with a rail. Make sure you still have enough flat surface and height for what you store.

Sterilite Small 3 Drawer Unit

8½ in. D × 7¼ in. W × 6⅞ in. H outside · Model 20738006 · Single unit

Each drawer measures 7⅜ in. D × 5⅝ in. W × 1¾ in. H at the interior bottom. Check those dimensions against your supplies, then make sure the drawer can open past the hinge. Save the taller cabinet space for bottles. On Amazon, open See All Buying Options to check third-party sellers, delivery, and current availability.

Before you order

Compare your measurements with the exact variant you’re considering. Look for assembled dimensions, confirm the pack size, and check the moving parts with the cabinet doors open. If a missing dimension decides the fit, get that measurement before ordering.
